Hello, I am Gabriël, I'm 15 years old. When I was 12, I already did FLL. We were the best team of our school. I already watched Team SPACE play, and I was really interested. In my first FLL year I also visited a league meet at Newmancollege. Because the teams were at the Dutch Open, I was the one telling the children about FTC. The last year was fun but we didn't make it far because the COVID-19 virus. But im excited for this new year!

Hello I’m Luuk, I am 15 years old.
This is my third year doing FTC.
Before I did FTC I did FLL and I really enjoyed that, so that's why I would like to continue that with FTC.
My brother Bas was a founder of Team SPACE and has been a member for 4 years, so I've heard a lot about FTC already and I became very enthusiastic about it.

Hi my name is Taro and I am 16 years old. This is my third year in Team Space and I am in Havo 5.
As activity I liked to do something next to my regular schoolwork but fór the school and meet other people that way. I find robots super interesting because you can do so much with them and I am curious to see how far we will get with our team in being able to have a robot do exactly what we want it to do. In my spare time I enjoy gaming, travelling and now of course the FTC!

Bas

Advisor

member from 2015 to 2019

Hi I’m Bas. I was a member of team Space for 4 years and I was one of the founding members of the team. During my years at team Space I learned a lot about a lot of things, I also had a lot of fun. I’m proud of our growth over the 4 years. We started off as rookies who couldn't do anything and we ended up as the most successful Dutch FTC team. My highlights were the 2 trips we made to the world finals in the US. Good luck to all future members of the team and don’t forget to have a lot of fun.

Nigel

Advisor

member from 2015 to 2019

Hi, I'm Nigel, ex-software engineer and one of the founders of Team SPACE. In the last years I've done amazing things and learned a lot. I've seen the team grow from rookies to the team that made it to the world finals twice.

As an advisor, I strive to bring my four years of FIRST Tech Challenge knowledge to the new team members. Because of this, our knowledge won't be lost and it will stimulate members to better develop themselves.

Sara

Engineer - CAD Designer

member from 2019 to 2021

Hey, I am Sara and I was a part of Team SPACE for 2 years. During these two years I learnt a lot about anything to do with robots. Together with the team I made many fun, and also some stressful, memories. Besides the memories with the team I also liked meeting other teams. So was meeting teams from different countries during the matches in Barcelona one of my favourite memories.
Now I am going to university, but I don’t think I will forget SPACE. I wish Team SPACE a lot of luck and fun in the next years!

Dylan

PR - Engineer

member from 2017 to 2020

Hello, I am Dylan. I'm 17 years old, and comin year will be my fourth and probably last year if FTC.
My main role in the team is managing PR, but I also try to help with the robot when I can. Since a big part of the team is leaving next season, I hope we can get the team at a level where they can function without us.
I'm also responsible for the humor in the team.

Ronald Stegers

Oud-Coach

member from 2015 to 2020

After 5 years as coach of this marvelous team, Team SPACE, and together competed twice at the World's Championship it is time for the new generation coaches to step in. During the first four years my son Casper participated it the team, the last year it was my niece Sara who took over from him. Also this season she will represent the family. For me, I am not ready to give up on First/FTC, when this virus (a positive most enjoyable virus!) does get under your skin, it is difficult to let loose. With my experience as coach and FTC I will support FTC Netherlands in their (and my) goal to make everybody enthousiastic about the principles of FIRST and let them join the Dutch FTC League Championship!

Thijs

Engineer

member from 2019 to 2020

Hi! I’m Thijs. In total I enthusiastically participated in FTC for three years. The last year of which together with FTC Team Space. I learned a lot through FTC and it inspired me to study mechanical engineering at the TU in Eindhoven. I really enjoyed my FTC career, I had lots of fun, I've learned a lot and I made lots of friends. I wish the team the best of luck!

Anne-Wil

Engineer

member from 2018 to 2019

Hi my name is Anne-Wil, I only did FTC for one year and it was really great and I learned a lot of things.

Bart

Engineer - Socials

member from 2015 to 2019

I have been part of FTC team SPACE for four wonderful years. I've been able to take part in the most difficult challenges and I've enjoyed the journeys we've made a lot! I have learned a great deal in these 4 years, such as how to approach companies and how to maintain contact with them. On the technical side I learned to think creatively and mainly think in solutions not in problems. Now it's time for a new adventure. I'm studying Maritime Technology in Rotterdam. Here I will be educated as a Maritime engineer. See ya later Space!

Ben

Engineer - Driver

member from 2015 to 2019

Hey! My name is Ben Esseling and I was a member of Team SPACE from 2015 until 2019. In those four years I’ve learned a lot in both the mechanical and the social aspects. I’ve also had loads of fun with this teams, especially on our two trips to the US and one to Italy. I won’t miss it as I’m a member of FRC team Rembrandts and I will obviously stay and continue to mentor Team SPACE!

Björn

Engineer

member from 2015 to 2019

Hi, I'm Björn! Since the first year of Space I've been busy with the mechanical and electrical engineering that goes into the robot. My time over FTC was an amazing experience and I've learned a lot.

Casper

Engineer - CAD Designer

member from 2015 to 2019

These years as a member of Team Space have been wonderful. Starting out as a rookie team and progressively getting better and mastering the skills of FTC, tackling challenges with the whole group throughout the years and just learning so much important skills which I will use forever. But especially through university, which is where I can be found during the following years. I wish Team Space a bright future :)

Kyra

Engineer

member from 2018 to 2019

Heya, I'm Kyra, one of the engineers of FTC team Space in 2018. In one year I've mastered so many skills, from learning how to build and repare parts of a robot, to giving proper presentations and how to contact other teams and companies. FTC was a wonderful experience. I'm very glad to have taken part in this team. I hope team Space will continue to exist, and that the new members will make as valuable and fun memories as I have made.

Simone

Engineer

member from 2018 to 2019

Olav

Engineer

member from 2017 to 2018

Hi! i am Olav, this was my first and my last year in Team S.P.A.C.E. This has been a great experiance what i will never forget. With great building sessions and off course the matches in Aviano. Unfortunately i have to go to my HBO Study Automotive. I had a really fun year and you will see me around the FTC matches!

Ray

Engineer

member from 2015 to 2018

I am Ray and I'm 18 years old. I finished my Havo at the Newmancollege and I'm currently studying Automotive Engineering at Fontys. My time in Space was extremely fun and I learned a lot. Working together in a group is very important and it's interesting to see that it's the same at my school. I used to be mainly focussed on the robot. Mostly doing CAD-design and 3D printing. The journeys we made are amazing memories and I would definitely recommend checking out FTC some time.

Tessel

PR

member from 2015 to 2018

Thomas

Engineer

member from 2017 to 2018

Hey, I’m Thomas and last year I was part of Team Space. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. I was an engineer and even though I was able to follow everything, I decided to quit Team Space and continue my FTC career at GenleBotz. The reason I made this decision is actually quite simple. I prefer working on a robot without a tight schedule and that’s just not going to cut it at Space. This, however, is simply not the case at GentleBotz. Space was a nice team and was definitely worth it.
